Description
Sport England provide data relating to the impact that sport, and more specifically participation in sport, has on local economies. This dataset provides information, for the Black Country and each local authority area relating to;
- Number of sports related jobs
- Number of sports participation related jobs
- Contribution of sport to GVA
- Contribution of sport participation to GVA
The data is derived from Sport England’s Economic Model, developed in 2013.

Commentary
Participation in sport contributes £211.3m to the Black Country economy. Whilst Wolverhampton contributes slightly less than other Black Country areas, it generates the highest number of jobs.
