Black Country Healthy Schools Platinum Award
Once your school has achieved their Healthy Schools rating, you can apply for the Black Country Healthy Schools Platinum Award. This award will support schools to meet their statutory health education requirements and recognises excellent practice taking place across the region. The award assesses schools whole school approach to food and nutrition and embedding physical activity across the school day.

Healthy Schools Partnership Statement
The Black Country Healthy Schools Platinum award has been created in partnership with Active Black Country and all 4 Public Health teams across the Black Country region to recognise those schools who are demonstrating excellent practice in embedding a whole school approach to their Physical Activity, food and nutritional offer. The award builds on the existing DFE Healthy Schools Rating and National Active Lives Children’s Survey currently available to school.
Whilst acknowledging and recognising the key role both Physical Activity, Food and Nutrition play in developing a healthy lifestyle for children the award offers an opportunity for schools to work through a framework to outline their intent, implementation and impact across 9 whole school criteria areas acting as a whole school improvement tool.
Furthermore, the group acknowledge as well as recognising and rewarding schools demonstrating best practice this process will enable the Healthy Schools Panel to capture, evaluate and disseminate best practice across the region with other schools. This includes identifying networks of support by joining up different organisations and quality assured support services that can support schools work moving forwards.
