VACANCY: DIRECTOR OF IMPACT

Active Black Country believes that being active & playing sport has the power to improve people’s lives.

We form part of the national network of Active Partnerships, principally funded by Sport England to work with local partners to create opportunities for people to be physically active, move more & play sport.

Our partnership works to an established vision of ‘A future Black Country where all ages, abilities and backgrounds are able to be active, move and play sport’.

To support this Active Black Country, bring stakeholders together to understand the root causes of physical inactivity, build connections and develop knowledge of how the collective network of partners, knowledge and resources can work together to tackle physical inactivity.

We know that our activity is only part of the effort, and that the support, partnership and actions of individuals and organisations across a breadth of sectors will play the largest part in getting people active & playing sport.

Central to our approach is the demonstration of meaningful progress by setting a clear direction and agenda around key impact areas.

We wish to appoint a Director of Impact to lead & oversee this work, which includes research, evaluation, learning, advocacy, and communications across our partnerships and services.

The role will set us up to learn from all aspects of our work, amplify those insights and ensure that we are equipped to grow the evidence base for the difference that being active can make to people’s lives.

We are looking for someone who has an open & engaging style, who will be an effective collaborator and able to share information openly & proactively, demonstrating a passion for the role that being active and playing sport can play in improving peoples lives.

The role will be based out of our offices in Halesowen operating on a hybrid basis with some home-based working incorporated.

Active Black Country encourages diversity to maximise achievements, good practice, innovation, and impact, and we aim to ensure our organisations reflects the communities we aim to serve. We especially welcome applicants from under-represented or marginalised groups including, but not limited to, people from ethnically diverse communities and those with a disability or long-term health condition.

Please see the role description & person specification.

To apply:

1. Please submit an up-to-date CV and an expression of interest explaining why you are interested in this role, detailing how you are a good candidate for this post and how you fulfil the person specification – we recommend that this is no longer than two pages.

2. The declaration form – but completion of the equalities section is not mandatory, this is requested for monitoring purposes in line with our commitment to equality and diversity.

3. Please submit your expression to enquiries@Activeblackcountry.co.uk

Closing Date: 21st of June 2024.

For an informal discussion on any aspect of the role please contact Ian Carey (ABC Chief Executive Officer) Ian.carey@activeblackcountry.co.uk or on 07507060970.

We are always keen to work with applicants to make it easier for you to join the team. We can make adjustments where needed, perhaps due to a disability or sensory impairment or with digital access.

Our organisation passionately believes in what we do and are committed to changing peoples lives. However, we know you have a family, friends & a life outside of work. That’s why we offer a great benefits package , not just a competitive salary:

• Generous pension scheme
• Flexible working
• Life assurance
• Employee benefits package
• Generous holiday package
