Mayor to host charity golf day

Cllr Phil Page has joined forces with the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton St Georges to host the event at Perton Park Golf Course on May 9.

Proceeds will be donated to the official Mayor of Wolverhampton’s Charitable Fund. This year the Mayor has chosen to share proceeds between four local charities: Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre, Kingswood Trust, Good Shepherd Relief in Need and Inspire You.

Teams will be made up of four golfers and it will cost £45 per player to register. The price includes tea/coffee and bacon butties on arrival at 1pm and a meal in the clubhouse on the evening where the after-dinner speaker will be former Wolves player Steve Daley.

The Mayor, Cllr Page, said:

The golf tournament is part of my charity fundraising efforts during my year in office and I am aiming to raise as much as possible for some fantastic local causes.

The golf day, which has been organised in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton St Georges, promises to be a lot of fun and I am on the lookout for 18 teams of four players.

Tee-off time will be 2pm and it will be a ‘shotgun start’ where each team tees-off at the same time from an allocated hole around the course and hopefully all the teams will then finish at around the same time.

Mulligans, which are cards you can use to replay a poor shot, will also be for sale to raise a few more pounds for charity.
The day will conclude with a delicious sit-down meal in the club house and I’m delighted that Wolves legend Steve Daley has agreed to be the after-dinner speaker.”

To register a team, please contact the Mayor’s office at the Civic Centre, St Peter’s Square, Wolverhampton, on 01902 554089 or mayoral@wolverhampton.gov.uk. Payment must be made on registration either in cash or via cheque made payable to City of Wolverhampton Council.
