Women's Squash Week set to return
England Squash is calling on the squash community to get behind Women’s Squash Week from 22-30 September.
This annual international campaign celebrates and showcases female squash at every level of the sport from grassroots to elite. Designed to unite the squash community worldwide, the awareness week aims to challenge perceptions, address the gender gap and raise the sport’s profile.
England Squash is reaching out to the squash community and beyond to pledge their support to female squash and make some noise on social media throughout the week.
Mark Williams, Partnerships and Programmes Director at England Squash said:
Women’s Squash Week provides a great platform to address the gender gap in squash where only 13% of weekly players in England are female and just 22% of our coach members are women. This campaign provides a fantastic opportunity to increase female participation in all areas of squash and support our work to transform perceptions. We’re committed to engaging more women and girls in squash so they can enjoy the enormous benefits the sport brings.”
Throughout the week, England Squash will highlight five key themes that embody Women’s Squash Week which are: empowering, fun, sociable, inclusive and lifelong.
Jo Rowbottom, National Partnerships and Communities Manager at England Squash said:
Whether you play, volunteer, coach, referee or work in squash, you can play your part by organising taster sessions, making some noise on social media using hashtag #WSWEEK18, and sharing your stories to win prizes. Our Women's Squash Week toolkit has all the ideas and resources you need to join the campaign."
