Overseeing the process, Deborah Williams, Chair of the Active Black Country Board said
Following a rigorous open appointment process, the ABC Board and I are delighted to have appointed Ian as our Director. His experience, commitment and enthusiasm for improving the lives of people across the Black Country through physical activity, will be crucial to achieving our ambitious plans over the coming years. I look forward to Ian’s successful leadership of Active Black Country”.
Ian commented on his appointment
The collective objective for all Black Country stakeholders and partners is no longer merely about how many people take part, but rather how sport and physical activity can have a meaningful and measurable impact on improving people’s lives. I am hugely excited by the opportunities that are presented across the Black Country through working with partners to tackle inactivity, and feel very proud and humble to be leading Active Black Country’s contribution to the regions socio economic objectives and championing the successes of the region”.
