The British Blind Sport Have a Go Day is coming to Wolverhampton

British Blind Sport is pleased to work in partnership with Active Black Country, Beacon Centre for the Blind, Sense and WV Active to deliver a fun filled day of activity in Wolverhampton specifically for people living with sight loss across the West Midlands.

This sports taster day is the 4th event in the 2019 British Blind Sport Have a Go Day calendar, which has supported over 900 people with a visual impairment to get active and find a new passion in sport since 2016. This event brings together local and inclusive sport providers to create an opportunity for people living with a visual impairment to try their hand at a range of new and exciting activities including football, cricket, guide running and tennis. After exploring these new activities, the charity supports attendees to continue to play sport regularly at local clubs and sporting facilities.

These events are always very popular and we would encourage everyone, no matter their previous experience in sport, to come along. This is what previous participants have said about the events:

“I got to try out loads of sports that I haven’t done before and sports I liked but didn’t think I could do anymore because of my sight” -Participant, Have a Go Day York.

“I had lots of fun… I am hoping to take up one or two of the sports I tried today more regularly” - Participant, Have a Go Day Bristol.

“I liked trying sports that were especially for visually impaired people. We might have a go at junior parkrun now” – Participant, Have a Go Day Cambridge.

This event is free to attend for British Blind Sport members, and £5 for non-members (BBS membership is free for juniors under the age of 18). The event is open to anyone living with a visual impairment who is interested in trying their hand at inclusive sport, along with friends and family members. At the event, there will be an opportunity to try football, cricket, guide running and tennis, with further activities still to be confirmed and all attendees will also benefit from meeting industry professionals as well as other people living with sight loss taking their next steps towards living an active lifestyle.

The Wolverhampton Have a Go Day will take place on Sunday 7th July, from 10am until 3pm at Aldersley Leisure Centre, Wolverhampton, WV6 9NW.

Registration is required prior to the event and is available on the British Blind Sport website: https://bit.ly/HAGD-WOLV
