Top 3 Schools at the Sainsbury’s School Games in the Black Country rewarded at a glittering awards ceremony
Friday 8th November 2013 saw the great and the good from the Black Country sporting community turn out for the 5th annual Sport and Physical Activity Awards hosted by the Black Country BeActive Partnership. We saw over 200 guests and finalists attend to celebrate a year of sporting achievements from all four corners of the Black Country.
In 2013 Schools from across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton competed in over 15 sports at local and then county level to be crowned the Black Country winners. As part of the awards evening we were delighted to recognise the achievements of the top 3 schools in the medals table.
These 3 schools were invited to attend the awards evening to receive a certificate on behalf of the Black Country Local Organising Committee in recognition of their outstanding achievements in 2013.
Mary Keelan, chair of the Black Country Local Organising Committee said "It’s great that we are able to reward these schools for their success throughout the School Games calendar and we hope that this will encourage more schools to participate and sign up to this programme for 2014 and beyond.
The top three schools for 2013 were:
3rd place - Milking Bank Primary School
2nd place - Redhill School
and 1st place went to Wood Green Academy
Simon Hall Partnership Director for the Black Country BeActive Partnership added "we would like to thank and congratulate all the schools, staff and other partners in their support in the School Games throughout 2013, it’s great to see so many young participants competing in these competitions and we hope that many more will get involved moving forward”
A full medals table can be found at www.blackcountryschoolgames.org. If you would like more information about getting involved in the school games in 2014 please contact Laura Whitehead or call 01384 471135 and we will be able to put you in touch with your local contact.
