Decathlon Support Black Country Inspired Coaches
Today sees the launch of round 2 of the Black Country Inspired Coaches Fund. The aim of the Inspired Coaches Fund is to assist with increasing capacity within sports clubs and to provide and increase the number of coaches and coached hours available, especially for those aged 14+. Priority for funding will be given to National Governing Body clubs that have achieved Clubmark or clubs that will be able to achieve Clubmark, or equivalent, by receiving this funding.
In launching this funding round, we are delighted to be working in association with Decathlon Wednesbury. Decathlon is sponsoring the Black Country Inspired Coaches fund for this coming year and we are happy to have them on board with the programme. In offering their support, Nicola Edwards, Store Manager for Wednesbury said, "We at Decathlon are very excited to be on board with the Inspired Coaches programme. It is great to be part of facilitating the development of the next generation of sports men and women and making sport accessible to as many people as possible. Decathlon look forward to a successful partnership.”
Laura Whitehead, Coaching and Young People Officer for the Black Country BeActive Partnership, and Project Manager for the Inspired Coaches fund commented, "The previous Inspired Coaches round successfully supported 22 coaches from 10 sports clubs with their coaching qualifications. It is anticipated that through this second round of funding, and with the support of Decathlon we will enable more coaches to develop their skills which will in turn contribute towards increasing participation by offering more playing opportunities for people in the Black Country.” Decathlon will also be providing successful applicants with a polo shirt to help them on their way to increasing participation in their chosen sport.
If you would like to apply for funding through our Inspired Coaches fund, or would just like further information, please visit our website, or download the guidance document and application form here. Closing date for receipt of application is Friday 2nd May 2014.
